Many years ago, I met a young lady during an interview for residency.
As I read her personal statement I realized she was a young single mother.
I also noticed upon further review that she had started school in a rough part of a big American city.
As we conducted the interview, she showed that despite the odds, she had pushed through.
Her score was the highest I had ever seen in all my years of conducting interviews, a whopping 270/270
